BEFORE YOU
STEP IN FRONT
OF THE CAMERA.
You don't need to know how to pose, perform, or look like someone else. The experience is directed from beginning to end.
01 DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO POSE? +
Not at all. Most people I photograph are not professional models. I direct you throughout the session — from posture and expression to hand placement and how you interact with the cigar. Your job is simply to settle in and enjoy the experience.
02 DO I BRING MY OWN CIGAR? +
Yes. Bring a cigar you genuinely enjoy or one that has meaning to you. The cigar is part of the ritual and the story of the portrait, so I would rather photograph something that feels personal than choose one simply for appearance.
03 CAN MY PARTNER OR A FRIEND BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH ME? +
In many cases, yes. If you'd like to include another person, let me know before the session so we can make sure the experience and time you've selected are appropriate for what you want to create.
04 HOW DO I CHOOSE MY FINISHED PORTRAITS? +
Your finished image selection depends on the experience you choose. Classic includes three professionally retouched portraits, Signature includes five, and Legacy includes access to the complete edited collection.
05 WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? +
Wear something that feels like you. Texture, jackets, denim, tailoring, leather, hats, jewelry, and other personal details can photograph beautifully. Avoid dressing for what you think a cigar portrait is supposed to look like. The strongest portraits feel authentic to the person in them.
06 WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE? +
If something changes, contact me as soon as possible. Rescheduling and cancellation terms are handled according to the agreement for your specific session or event.
07 ARE THE SMOKE AND PORTRAITS REAL? +
Yes. The people are real. The cigars are real. The smoke is real. The portraits you see throughout Portraits of Smoke are photographs created in camera and professionally finished — not AI-generated people or synthetic smoke.
